尽早确定Teaching team所有的培训时间
Its a good idea to make sure everyone's responsibilities will not be affected if they are instructed to leave the premises:去interview了所以没有办法host tea and to fill up the water heater
(solution: to ask if anyone has responsibilities prior to instructing them to leave the room. This way, all the tasks are covered and everything runs smoothly

While waiting, we discussed how we could enhance our cooking projects by creating cultural games that go along with the themed-food. For example, when teaching the dumpling lesson, we could create a chopstick game in which the students will be divided into four teams. From there they will compete against each other. The object of the game is to carry a scrap piece of paper with chopsticks from one side of the room, to the other. Whichever team collects the most scraps of paper wins.
In the afternoon, we finalized our lesson plans and cultural worksheets and handouts. We spell checked everything and then made copies of everything, forming a packet for the students and ourselves. This way, instead of having to waste time going to the copier every day, we can focus more on other student oriented tasks, such as improving are adding onto our lesson plan, or assisting another teacher during their lesson.
Apart from some of the decorations falling down, I think I should have been more prepared for lunch time. Although I have been studying Chinese for two years, I still feel as though my pronunciation is bad. In turn, I rarely said anything to the students during this time because I felt so nervous. I will definitely work on this. Like the students, I am here to learn, and what better way to learn, than practice.
One aspect of my work that went really well was when my team created a lunch time schedule in which a set list of places to cater from was made. This way, instead of wondering where we will get our next meal from, we already have an idea of where the place is, and what kind of food they offer. By doing this, we save time, and are more prepared for the days to come.
- Correct their tone
- 甜,咸
- for the visitor day, provide some more question sheets. Enough to keep speaking as much chinese as possible throughout the day so that we may not run out of things to say
- encouraging students to interact more in Chinese because a lot of the students want to do the activities in English rather than Chinese.
- communicating with both Sun Laoshi and liu Laoshi about making sure the rhymes are conistent because the rhymes they had were different
- 电脑总出问题:
- feedback is appreciated
- able to get the students to transit from one activity to another
- need to evenly distribute my attention among students
- 从第一天就要说清楚:set up expectations, assertive, respect TAs
- more encouragement for TAs
- I was not fully attentive to the lecture. There were students around me that were not fully attentive and I did not say anything to them
- I need to evenly distribute my attention among students
- Just make sure to stay in communication so everyone knows where they are suppose to be
- make sure technology is working when it needs to be
- ends on time
- I was able to meet some new students and get to know more about their interest in Chinese, but not much Chinese was spoken
- focus on particular individuals who are not as motivated as others
- 看到有些TA写得不认真,没有人很reflections 就应该立刻谈话,给sample
- we need to find a way to either speak or inform insubordinate students and make them participate more in a professional way(we had fun, however there was one student that did not want to participate with the games, i tried to help motivate her and play games but she did not want to participate
- "I was slightly annoyed and had to yell over them to pay attention to speak about kites. we were also short on time so they are not all complete"
- disciplining the students. some were talkative and I did not know any other way to have them pay attention except for raising my voice at them
- hand out cultural materials after the teachers explaination
- I need to better keep students focused on the task at hand during the cultural lesson.
- one student was having some personal issues and sat alone,, I tried to speak to him about it but no use. we got him back with this group eventually and spoke with his friends, and got involved.
- getting all students involved and interacting with them. Showing them that I am available to help them if they need
- I attempted to communicate with "xiaomao" and her friends about how their day was in chinese, however they are easily side tracked.
- at lunch table, I helped my students to prepare for their skit, and to get their opinions about our program
- check out the final performance space and equipments...we must make a schedule for the final presentation so everyone knows what is going on
- First day lunch table , introduction, where they live, what grade, what they did this morning
- use we chat to communicate within our teaching team
- “ I'm struggling with the lunch hour. I think it helps a lot to have the same group everyday and sample questions to work with , but it is difficult to get the students to open up. They are so concerned about making mistakes or not knowing the whole sentence that they will only use Chinese if they re completely confident
- set up deadline for the Lead Teacher to provide performances
- "the whole day just felt very rushed. Maybe it was because it was the first day, but I would rather I knew what was happening even farther in advance. perhaps we just need to work out the kinks in the first couple days
- to set up calligraphy things before lunch finishes, it took so much time to get ready
- make a list of the food options for each restaurant
- 离开之前让学生自己wipedown their table
- need to be clear that who is going to be responsible-double order
- give students a lunch packet to choose on the first day back home
- grill picnic researvation
Greet students who arrived early and talked with them in Chinese and teach some everyday used vocabulary 昨天用了50分钟到学校。今天用了20分钟。我比你早。吃早饭了吗?
review quickly and focus on some common mistakes
put into the right folder
