The Department of Modern and Classical Languages seeks applications for the post of Visiting Assistant Professors of Chinese for the 2011-2012. The position is non-tenure track, renewable up to three years. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed a Ph.D. in Chinese, but the Department will consider candidates who are ABD or who have a Masters Degree in Chinese with significant experience teaching at the College level. Candidates will need to demonstrate competency in program building, a sense of how to integrate Chinese Studies in a small liberal arts college setting, and a deep familiarity with second language acquisition as it applied to Chinese. Candidates must have college teaching experience.
(I'm hoping, too, that the way in which we wrote the advertisement for this position made it clear that the building of Chinese program (requirement, curricular design, outreach strategies, etc.) is a top priority in this hire.)
(Joining me on the conversation will be...As I intended to communicate earlier, this is less of a formal interview (with specific, detailed questions) as a chance for the Committee to get to know more about you.)
